About the Role

We are looking for an exceptional growth-minded leader who can motivate and develop an experienced sales, marketing and events team while building local and international relationships to continue growing business and revenue for the beautiful Andaz Ottawa ByWard Market. This exciting, senior leadership position requires an innovative and proactive approach to sales generation, and we are looking for a dynamic sales leader to join our team.

 

Responsibilities

Direct leadership of the Sales, Marketing and Events team. Responsible for the Sales and Events Budget/P&L, revenue forecasting, developing and writing business plans, and ownership engagement.Developing, implementing, and monitoring the hotel’s sales strategy to achieve and exceed forecasted revenue targets in Rooms, Food and Beverage and all other revenue-generating departments.Responsible for short and long-term planning and the management of Event Sales and Event PlanningManage the hotel sales and events contracts and achievement of the hotel revenue plan.Manage key sales accounts while developing strategies for pricing, inventory, and sales revenue allocation.Attend major travel, trade, and corporate functions and conduct sales trips based on business priorities. This may include travel on weekends and evening events.Retention and acquisition of corporate business.Maintain or exceed budgeted sales and profits in all event areas.Experience evaluating each piece of event business to ensure the business can be adequately serviced.Building and maintaining strong client relations and developing accounts to increase market share across all revenue streams – locally, nationally, and internationally.Interact with the operation team to ensure an understanding of guest needs and create a working relationship within all areas of the operation.Ability to train and monitor the group and transient contractual agreement process, quoting rates, sending referrals, setting traces, and the management of retention, reactivation, and acquisition accounts.

The Director of Sales and Events reports directly to the General Manager with oversight from the Regional Vice President of Sales and Events. As a member of the property’s Leadership Committee, the Director of Sales and Events is a highly visible role with exposure to Senior and Corporate leadership. Qualifications:

 

Minimum 10 years or more of progressive Hotel Sales and Event Services experience (typically with Hyatt or in the Hotel, airline, luxury retail or travel related industry is preferred) with at least 3 years of Director/Leader experience. Previous hotel pre-opening experience will be an assetDemonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds and adapt their leadership style to the team.Professional presentations skillsMust be a caring leader that builds trust and engagement by cultivating genuine relationships within the department and with other teams.Innovative thinker that will challenge business processes and concepts in order to drive results and possess the ability to improve the bottom lineMust be creative and strategic in developing marketing/advertising campaigns and able to manage various social media platforms with the teamClear, concise written and verbal communication skillsExcellent organizational and time management skillsMust be proficient with computers as well as Microsoft Word, Excel and the internetComfortable with using various sales and revenue systems/programsFlexible to work some nights and weekends when necessary based on business and staffing needsStrategic orientation with the know-how to problem solve under pressureNatural relationship builder and strong desire to work as a partner with customersDemonstrated history of meeting sales and budget goalsProven sales experience with the ability to lead, guide and achieve personal revenue goalsDesire to learn and continually adapt to changing market conditionsA true desire to satisfy the needs of guests in a fast-paced environment.Strong work ethic with attention to detailAbility to work in a team with integrity and confidentialityProven ability to achieve goals & KPI’sAbility to coach and motivate team members
