What You Will Do

Johnson Controls invites you to apply for full-time employment located in Dartmouth, NS. This position of Fire Alarm Inspector is ideal for a candidate who is interested in a career in the Fire and Life Safety industry. The general tasks of this position are to work independently to complete a route of monthly visual inspections on fire and life safety systems, and document and submit reports. In addition, you will assist senior fire technicians with the inspection, testing, and maintenance of Fire Alarm Systems.

The role is a full-time, entry-level position designed to provide you with a positive work/training experience and challenging objectives.

How You Will Do It

 

Manage a portfolio of recurring monthly visual inspections of emergency lighting and fire extinguishers throughout the province.Establish a route that is efficient and maximizes utilization.Using an electronic work order management system, use accurate real-time debriefing.Complete and submit electronic inspection reports.Responsible for meeting customer expectations while assisting quality inspections; and maintaining a professional demeanor with customers.Assist lead technicians with day-to-day duties including reading and interpreting reports, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics, and operational/product manuals.Follow the safety program and complete all safety training and pre-job checklists as required.Other roles and responsibilities as identified by your manager/supervisor.

Ability to sit or stand for long periods.Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.Minimum High School completion / some technical training preferred.Canadian citizen or legal right to work in Canada with any employer.Ability to travel within the province. Willing to work overnight out of town as required.Ability to meet deadlines.Aptitude and interest in electronics and technical troubleshooting.Intermediate skill in Microsoft Office suite, ability to learn and utilize smartphone apps, software programs, and computer systems.Ability to pass criminal background and clean driving record; possess valid driver’s license without restrictions.Ability to obtain Reliability clearance.
