Information Management Specialist (Data)

Contract
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Information Management Specialist to support the development of an Enterprise Data Governance Program. This role will focus on creating enterprise-wide data standards, policies, and guidelines to enable common data products (e.g., Business 360). The successful candidate will have strong expertise in data governance, metadata management, and data modeling, with the ability to translate business and technical requirements into actionable policies and standards.
Key Responsibilities
Provide expert knowledge of Enterprise Information Management (EIM) best practices, methodologies, and trends, aligned with the Enterprise Data Strategy.
Draft and organize policies, standards, guidelines, processes, and procedures to support enterprise data products.
Example: Developing standards and guidelines for Business 360, including rules for data capture and transformation.
Partner with technical and business stakeholders (developers, data architects, business analysts) to define data rules and requirements.
Support the classification and stewardship of Critical and Enterprise-Critical Data Elements (CDEs/ECDEs), including metadata and data quality requirements.
Contribute to the development of canonical data models, metadata schemas, and classification schemes to ensure consistency and interoperability across the enterprise.
Required Skills
Enterprise Information Management
Proven experience analyzing and establishing data and information management needs (MUST HAVE).
Skilled in data classification schemes, metadata schema development, and controlled vocabularies/ontologies (MUST HAVE).
Knowledge of recognized national and international EIM standards (MUST HAVE).
Strong understanding of document management protocols, version control, naming conventions, and business rules.
Enterprise Data Governance
Applied experience with data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK), data lifecycle, and metadata management practices (MUST HAVE).
Drafting enterprise-ready, computationally governable policy instruments such as standards and guidelines (MUST HAVE).
Knowledge of methodologies and standards for identifying and classifying information and data assets.
Communication & Collaboration
Excellent writing skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong presentation and visual communication skills.
Experience collaborating with diverse technical and business stakeholders (MUST HAVE).
Analysis & Problem Solving
Ability to support data architecture teams in building consumption-oriented data sets.
Strong policy research and analysis skills, including environmental scans, business process mapping, and maturity assessments.
